| UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
| Syllabus: | This unit is designed to increase students' understanding and skills in physics research. The specific scientific project objectives are determined by the student and supervisor. The work carried out in PHYS3004 will most commonly carry on from what was completed in PHYS3003 and focus on tasks such as experimental work, data analysis, and report writing |
| Further Information: | PHYS3004 is most commonly taken as the second semester of a full-year research project, with PHYS3003 being the first semester component. It is expected that a student will spend a significant amount of their own time in this unit on tasks such as reading scientific publications, planning and carrying out experiments, writing computer programs, analysing data, and report writing. In addition, the class meets with the unit coordinator once every two weeks during semester for one hour to provide progress updates, participate in discussions and receive generic information relevant to all projects. |
