Course Overview
This course is designed for those who wish to move into a different discipline from which they have gained their undergraduate degree. It provides opportunity for students to continue to complete a Master of Engineering Science which will qualify them as professional engineers.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Diploma are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require the completion of an undergraduate course. The individual majors within the course will indicate the disciplines, which are accepted for entry into the specific majors.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Course Organisation
Graduate Diplomas contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from to pursue learning in a specialised area of study.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. solve significant technological and other relevant problems in specific engineering disciplines using applicable engineering theory and design methods
2. analyse a problem and apply research and creative thinking to the formulation of a solution; implement and verify the solution using advanced tools and techniques
3. find, evaluate, organise and present information relevant to electrical engineering research activities
4. purposefully communicate concepts, technical and other relevant information, to a wide audience, utilising various communication methods
5. proficiently utilise technologies to analyse and solve various systems’ problems and remain current with changes to and advantages and limitations of these technologies
6. maintain a spirit of inquiry and relevant study to continue to learn and develop as a responsible graduate
7. apply international standards, practices and conventions appropriate to professional engineering; consider issues from a variety of perspectives within a global context
8. function effectively within a typical multidisciplinary and multi-cultural engineering design team, recognising individual human rights; consider and value indigenous perspectives and language diversity
9. commit to and behave in accordance with the professional and ethical responsibilities of engineering postgraduates as an individual, a team member, manager or team leader
Duration and Availability
This course is one year full-time or equivalent part time-study. All majors in this course are available to international students studying in Australia on a study visa. There are two intakes offered each year, in February and July.
