Syllabus: | Identification and quantification of chemical species in diverse substrates is vitally important in a wide range of applied contexts. This unit provides grounding in the fundamental principles of analytical chemistry theory and practice. It assumes a working knowledge of the principles of spectroscopy and chromatography. Topics to be covered include: general principles of sampling; modern methods of chemical analysis, focusing on organic and inorganic constituents in aquatic systems; statistical data treatment, evaluation and interpretation; method validation. |
