Syllabus: | This unit will provide students with an introduction to key psychological theories and areas of practice as applied within sport and exercise contexts. A key focus is on theoretical understanding, first on individual attributes (for example, dispositional traits, motivations, exercise identity) and their integration in broader concepts (for example, mental toughness), followed by social considerations (for example, interpersonal relationships); the culmination of this unit is on their integration for understanding important issues such as talent development, injury, and exercise behaviour. Both theoretical knowledge and practical skills will be studied in this unit. |
