Course Overview
The General Professional English course develops students' general and business English skills for global work and travel. Students should choose this course if they are interested in travelling and working in an English speaking environment. After completing the course, students will be able to engage in conversations on general and business related topics, and write a CV and cover letter using an appropriate style. They will also be able to identify the main ideas, details and writer’s purpose in a variety of texts, and listen for topic, specific information and detail in monologues and dialogues.
Course Entry and Completion Details
Entry requirement for the General Professional English course is IELTS 6.0 overall or equivalent Students are required to purchase a course book for their level. It is also recommended they purchase a language learners dictionary.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for Credit for Recognised Learning are not considered within this course.
Course Organisation
The 10 week General Professional English course is split into two 5 week modules. The ‘a’ module covers weeks 1 to 5 of the syllabus, and the ‘b’ module covers weeks 6 to 10. Students may complete the modules in either order. Assessments are held in the final week of each module.
Duration and Availability
The General Professional English course comprises 200 hours scheduled over a 10 week period plus an additional 120 hours self-study over a 10 week period. Intakes are every 5 weeks.
