Course Overview

Graduate diplomas prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.


This course is ideal for students with a technical or non-business background wishing to develop an understanding of the functional areas of business. By provision of a broad coverage of core business related topics students will be well prepared to move into leadership and management roles.

Course Entry and Completion Details

Applicants are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Applicants generally require a bachelor degree or graduate certificate.


Specifically, applicants require a bachelor degree or postgraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or equivalent, and at least three years relevant work experience. Selection, which is competitive, will be based on a range of information including grades achieved in previous study, referee reports, relevance or work experience, career aspirations and test results. Applicants are required to submit referee reports and a CV. Interviews will also be required.


Credit for Recognised Learning

Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Students with credit waivers may select other appropriate foundation or business environment units from the Master of Business Administration or an additional optional Graduate Diploma introductory unit.


Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course:


Graduate Certificate in Business.

Course Organisation

Graduate diplomas contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from to pursue learning in a specialised area of study.


This course offers a specialisation in Strategic Procurement as well as the generic Business stream.



Duration and Availability

This course may be completed in one year full-time or the equivalent in part-time study and can also be completed fully online, dependent on unit selection. International students on student visas are not permitted to study fully online.
