Syllabus: | Introduction to measurements for scientific and engineering applications: principles of measurement; standards; calibration; causes and types of errors in measurement; uncertainty analysis; statistical analysis of experimental data; regression analysis; curve fitting techniques; generalised performance characteristics of instruments; order and response of instruments; measuring instruments for force, torque, strain, motion, humidity, noise and vibration, pressure, flow, temperature, and heat flux; optical measurement methods for heat and fluid flow; measurement of combustion products; data acquisition and processing. |
