Tutorial: | 2 x 3 Hours Quarterly |
Syllabus: | Sustainable technology development is implemented through the design of new industrial facilities that produce goods with a much lower impact on the environment. Green engineering - or environmentally conscious design of industrial processes and plants - is aimed at innovative ways to incorporate environment and sustainability considerations into the design of industrial facilities (with particular relevance for the petro-chemical, minerals processing, energy and food processing industries), leading to lower levels of environmental impact during construction, start up, operation, maintenance and decommissioning stages of the industrial facility. Outlines the basic concepts of green engineering design. It addresses design-related opportunities in conceptual design, feasibility study, detailed engineering, construction and start up phases. The concepts are illustrated with practical examples from various industry sectors. |

Area External refers to external course/units run by the School or Department or offered by research.
Central External refers to external and online course/units run through the Curtin Bentley-based Distance Education Area
Partially Online Internal refers to some (a portion of) learning provided by interacting with or downloading pre-packaged material from the Internet but with regular and ongoing participation with a face-to-face component retained. Excludes partially online internal course/units run through the Curtin Bentley-based Distance Education Area which remain Central External
Fully Online refers to the main (larger portion of) mode of learning provided via Internet interaction (including the downloading of pre-packaged material on the Internet). Excludes online course/units run through the Curtin Bentley-based Distance Education Area which remain Central External
