This master degree is designed for information systems and information technology professionals who recognise the need to increase their knowledge or skills in the management and strategic application of information systems and information communication technology in competitive, intelligent and global business environments. The program combines theory, research and practice, and incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies relating to information systems, information technology and Internet security. This course is accredited by the Asutralian Computer Society (ACS).
A high average in an undergraduate or graduate degree in an information systems/information technology or a computing-related discipline. No relevant work experience is necessary for entry to this program.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
This fee-paying course is of two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce (Information Systems).
The Master of Commerce (Information Systems) consists of 16 units of study, each carrying 25 credits, totalling 400 credits. Students have the option to choose from areas of study which include: strategic information systems, business information technology management, knowledge management, programming, web services and architecture, database mining, problem solving, computer forensics, Internet security and cyberwarfare.
With a prior computing, information sytems or information technology related degree, graduates may apply for membership with the Australian Computer Society.
Graduates generally find employment in supervisory roles within information systems departments in public and private organisations.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
