Development of the more advanced psychotherapy skills and concepts that are required for working with more complex client populations. In particular, the unit addresses the more unconscious processes in therapy such as ruptures in the therapeutic alliance, transference and countertransference, projection, empathic attunement, parallel processes and defences. Such psychotherapy processes are linked to understanding the personality structure, developmental processes and psychopathology of the client. There is a focus on adapting treatment models and processes to 'fit' the personality structure and or psychopathology of the client. |
