A formal course work unit and the student is required to attend classes. Where a formal student led discussion/lecture series exploring issues raised initially in a variety of set texts. The set texts will be on issues of contemporary cultural practice, which in some way affects design and its practitioners. It is intended that these seminars be broad ranging. Following the work on the set texts, students are encouraged to present articles and book chapters for consideration by the group. Some areasare worthy of discussion include - contemporary cultural theorists, feminist issues, politics in design, professionalism and other theoretical topics, which deepen our understanding of design and its place in society. |
