Chemical Engineering Plant and Equipment - process diagrams, Process and instrument diagrams and I.D's, unit operations (1 hour), transportation and storage of materials. Pumping. Valves. Heat Exchangers. Evaporation. Filtration. Settling. Centrifuges, Cyclones. Distillation. Air Cooling, humidification and refrigeration. Gas/liquid contacting. Comminution. Capital costing. Introduction to basic electrical and electronic theory to understand the functions, applications and limitations of electrical/electronic components and systems. Professional ethics and the chemical engineer's responsibility to society - awareness of the role. The importance of chemical engineering to maintaining our standards of living and emphasis on the responsibilities, to both society and the environment. |
