Basic principles involved in structuring information objects and creating the metadata which makes them retrievable. Topics will include - information structures, hypertext, databases, automatic and derived indexing, metadata and description, DTDs and schemas, indexing languages, standards and subject analysis, evaluation of retrieval effectiveness. |
