The natural history of infectious diseases. Patterns of infectious disease from an historical and current perspective. Epidemic models. Morbidity and mortality. Immunisation. International comparisons. Epidemiological methods and their application to infectious diseases. Examples of infectious diseases, including - HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and Ross River virus. Microbial evolution.
