This is the foundation unit for the Cultural Heritage major. It introduces a variety of approaches to, and discussions about, the heritage field, and is interested in analysing the political and cultural aspects of the heritage industry. In this unit we examine a range of different representations, including that of indigenous past, in magazine, advertisements, newspapers, museums and historical sites. It provides a language and range of concepts with which to analyse this important area of cultural practice. |
