Surface mining methods - pit layouts, mine operations, equipment selection, productivity, cost factors, haul road design and construction, grade control and stockpiles, heap leaching. Strip mining - resource estimates, stripping methods, equipment selection, dragline pit design, productivity and cost factors, reclamation. Alluvial mining - Hydraulicking, dredging, tailings disposal. Surface mine design techniques - block economic value and cut-off grade, pit shell optimisation, bench geometry, long and short term planning, dump planning. Surface mining technology - in-pit crushing and conveying, trolley haulage, drill monitoring, truck dispatching, mine water and its control. Dewatering bore holes, sumps and pumping operations. Mine safety and regulations. field trip to mining operations. |
