An overview of communications system functions - OSI perspective, OSI layer view. Communications over band limited channels - Nyquist criterion, intersymbol interference, eye diagrams, feed forward and decision feedback equalisation, minimum mean square equalisation. Viterbi algorithm. Line codes. Carrier and symbol synchronisation. Justification and rate adaptation, jitter sources and jitter filtering. |
