Concept of mental health - holistic health revisited, linkages of all health aspects to mental health. Self-mental health - rationale to monitor and strategies to maintain or promote mental health. Contributors to mental health - childhood theories, role modeling and peer pressure and environment. Maintenance of mental health - social interaction, work and leisure activities. Mental health assessment - skills to determine the health status of family members. Role of mental health worker - duty of care, accountability, ethics and law in a primary health care context. Strategies to assist families to take responsibility for their own health. |
