Relate theories to specific practice problems. Topics include losses and grieving, trauma, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, drug and alcohol misuse, suicide and self-harm, domestic violence, sexual health, school based problems, and mental illness. When possible, invited practitioners, chosen for their familiarity with the issues to be discussed, will present lectures and practical demonstrations. Consideration of professional and ethical issues that are central to the theory and practice of counselling. Reflection on the moral assumptions brought to their counselling practice, and will identify beliefs and values that support ethical and responsible conduct towards clients. Ethical dilemmas raised for discussion.
