Introduction
This course provides a professional award for graduates in medical science, nursing or related areas interested in infection control. It develops an understanding of the latest techniques involved in the detection, spread and control of infectious diseases. An extensive review of literature and a supervised research project is also undertaken.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
An approved undergraduate degree in medical science, nursing or equivalent and two years work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
The program is available on a three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units may be available externally.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate Hospital Infection Control or Graduate Diploma Infection Control in Health Care may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
