Bioethics and paramedic practice, legal issues and negligence in practice, confidentiality and consent. Professional practice framework, professional rights and responsibilities. Ethical and legal health related dilemmas across the life span. Consumer rights in advocacy and health care. Integrated health care including mental health. Communication with critically unstable clients and their families. Altered mental state, altered consciousness, client rights, assisted suicide, and abortion. Living will - refusing treatment. Preservation of client centred care along the continuum of client's rights from self-determination to custodial care. Recognition and reporting of abuse. Negotiation and problem solving (interaction with peers and clients). Prioritising care. |
