| Syllabus: | Use a systems approach to assess, diagnose, plan, manage, document and evaluate patient care. Therapeutic interventions relating to cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine and neurovascular support. Apply therapeutic communication, critical reasoning and meet paramedic competency standards in selected clinical contexts. Medication (oral, topical, inhalation) preparation, administration and recording, dosage calculations, legislative control. Introduction to pain assessment and management, including complementary therapy. Fluid balance maintenance, monitoring and documentation. Introduce principals of pediatric fluid management Adult, baric and pediatric resuscitation in clinical contexts. Respiratory and cardiovascular support: ventilation, chest drains, underwater seal drainage, haemodynamics monitoring, recording electrocardiography. Potential lethal arrythmias. |
