311945 v.2 Art and Design Studies Major

Introduction

Through the study of the history and theories of Art and Design, students receive practical training in critical understandings of how visual culture structures and informs our world. Students are also trained in practices of seeing and representation through technical and intuitive skills based in drawing.

Major Combinations within the BA

Students choosing this major within the Bachelor of Arts degree will also choose another major or an elective stream. Choosing a second major allows students to study in an additional discipline area. Choosing an elective stream allows students to undertake further study in the discipline of their first major or choose from a variety of units from around the University.

Course Entry Requirement

Students should complete Drawing 191 and Historical Issues in Art and Design 192 in first year. Students must attend an Information Session.
