Syllabus: An introduction to active listening skills, interviewing and helping skills. Awareness of incongruent non-verbal communication. Awareness of the influence of stereotypes, prejudices and cross-cultural issues in communication. Developing an understanding of basic models of helping and problem solving, including basic assessment skills and processes applicable to counselling and coaching. Ethics and professional responsibilities.
