UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: Students gain knowledge and understanding of the medico-legal, professional and ethical principles relating to medical scientists, with an appreciation of all elements of a ISO/IEC 17025 Quality the Standard. Knowledge and understanding is developed specifically relating to the laboratory's quality system, quality control and continuing quality improvement programs. Students will appreciate all elements of the ISO 15189 Quality Standard and the NATA/RCPA supplementary requirements required for laboratory accreditation. Students will attend where possible the continuing education programs provided by laboratory organisations and professional bodies and presentations by specialist and expert scientists invited to speak at the Western Australian Biomedical Research Institute (WABRI) seminar program.
