UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: Introductory unit that prepares students for study within creative advertising, by developing both copywriting and art direction skills that are essential to the advertising industry. Research and examination of structural dynamics within advertising copy. Students will explore vocabulary, syntax and grammar, meter and form, tone of voice, styles and formats, persuasion and motivation techniques. Copywriting techniques and strategies supported by research and critical analysis of advertising copy will enhance the students experience of industry practice. Analysis of visual branding and campaigning, graphics and colour, art direction, photography and illustration, art direction for sequential media, Students will develop a mechanical empathy for production and media design. Critical analysis of advertising art direction is integrated into the research components.
