Course Overview

Bachelor honours degrees prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional work, research and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.

This course enables graduates to enter directly into professional roles in commerce. This course also provides high calibre students with the opportunity for a possible direct entry into master and PhD programs. Students are required to complete advanced coursework units and submit a dissertation.

Course Organisation

Bachelor honours degrees typically comprise an honours course equivalent to one year of full-time study, which is additional to the associated bachelor degree.

Course Learning Outcomes

A graduate of this course can:

1. apply various types of knowledge to understand and evaluate current and emerging research in commerce

2. think creatively and critically to generate innovative solutions to complex business and commercial problems

3. access, evaluate and synthesise relevant information from a range of organisational and external sources

4. communicate appropriately and effectively in professional and public contexts

5. use electronic resources to effectively interrogate databases, analyse data, collect information and communicate research findings

6. demonstrate initiative, responsibility and lifelong learning skills by applying critical reflection and active participation

7. describe global and cultural issues as related to commerce and their impact on local and international communities

8. demonstrate ways of using cultural diversity to improve business and professional practice

9. critique and reconceptualise the roles of leadership, ethical practice and professional integrity when working within a team and independently
