Syllabus: Focuses on two introductory modules concerned with the design of small-scale framed buildings. Construction and Materials includes: properties and application of framing components and cladding materials, related 'skin and frame' construction systems and embodied energy of construction (module one - one hour lecture and one hour tutorial per week). Students undertake project-based design exercises, including tuition with structural engineers and related field trips. Theory of Structures - basic theory of related construction (module two - two hour lecture per week).
