Introduction

This course provides advanced technical and professional training for those intending to upgrade their geology qualifications or re-train in a new branch of geoscience. Streams are available in Basin Analysis and Petroleum Geology, Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology, and Environmental Geoscience and Hydrogeology.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geology. Alternatively, direct admission may be granted for graduates with a four year honours degree, from an approved institution, in geology or closely related discipline.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is of one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Two intakes are offered each year, in February and July.

Course Organisation

Each stream in this course comprises core project units together with optional units in geology and related disciplines. Note that unit availability is often limited to specific semesters, which may affect the order that the units are taken.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
