Syllabus: An introduction to the value, types, collection, storage, manipulation and applications of health data and information at a local, national and international level. Concepts of confidentiality, privacy, security, quality and integrity, access and retention and linkage are examined in relation to paper-based and electronic health information systems. An introduction to legislation and regulations relating to health information is provided.
