Structure and functions of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Enzymes, hormones and neurotransmitters. Major biochemical pathways. Biochemical energetics. Chemistry of body fluids. Major physiological processes in aquaculture species: respiration and circulation, osmoregulation, digestion, endocrinology, immunity, and nervous system. Comparisons between land and aquatic animals where relevant. |
