Introduction

This major is concerned with the skills and knowledge necessary for the development of safer, healthier and more efficient workplaces. Core principles of risk management and assessment and specialisation in a range of occupational safety topics result inimprovements in workplace health and safety through the prevention of injury, diseases and adverse environmental impacts. These skills are sought after in a wide range of sectors including mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, government health and business. This major may be of particular interest to those with previous qualifications and work experience in health and safety intending to complete a degree.
