Syllabus: Introduction to philosophy; the pursuit of truth; philosophies of East and West; historical overview of philosophy and education; historical overview of philosophy and research; theories and paradigms; ontology - the nature of reality; positivist and empiricist paradigm; Popper and the falsificationist paradigm; critical paradigm; postpositivist /pragmatist paradigm; feminist and gender-studies paradigm; postmodernist and relativistic paradigm including interpretivism, constructivism, constructionism; integral/post postmodernist paradigm.
