Co Requisite(s): 10458 (v.2) Measurement and Adjustment Analysis 381 or any previous version
Syllabus: Principles of space and satellite geodesy. Kepler's laws: the celestial sphere, spherical trigonometry, definitions of celestial coordinate systems and their relationships with terrestrial coordinate systems. Time keeping: relationships between universal, sidereal and atomic time. Solar and stellar determinations of astronomic azimuth. Astronomic positioning using stars. Basics of GPS (the need for GPS positioning, link between GPS positioning and the conventional total station, coordinate representation, GPS Segments,), Errors in GPS measurements (GPS observation equations, and associated errors), Point positioning, DGPS relative positioning using code, WAAS, WADGPS, and other space positioning methods (VLBI, SLR and LLR).
