Introduction

Completion of this major will provide students with the ability to communicate in Japanese culture. The focus of the major is the Japanese language. The major also provides an insight into the social frameworks, political structures and religions of Japanese culture. To successfully complete this major, students are required to complete four core units, four elective units, and eight Japanese language units. Students commence with Japanese 111 (Beginners), Japanese 211 (Pre intermediate), Japanese 311 (Intermediate), or Japanese 321 (Advanced) depending on their communicative ability using all skills, and after consultation with the Japanese teaching staff.
