Syllabus:	Introduction to the basic principles of geology. The geological timescale. Origins, composition and structure of planet Earth. Introduction to internal and external planetary processes. Plate tectonics and the rock cycle. Interpretation of 3D geological data – maps and cross-sections. Crystal systems, mineral properties. Identification, description and classification of igneous and sedimentary rocks.
