Syllabus: Evidence based health care. Introduction to the oral environment, plaque, the main dental diseases and their prevention and management. Cariology - epidemiology, aetiology, pathology, clinical characteristics, diagnosis, classification, risk assessment. Health promotion overview, introduction to dental health education. Plaque control, sealants, saliva testing, fluorides and other remineralising agents - history, mechanisms of action and uses. Dental anatomy and an introduction to occlusion.
