Syllabus: Communication with critically unstable clients and their families. Altered mental state, altered consciousness, client rights, assisted suicide, and abortion. Living will - refusing treatment. Preservation of client centred care along the continuum of client's rights from self-determination to custodial care. Recognition and mandatory reporting of abuse. Quantitative approaches to nursing research. Organ donation. Scope of practice, advocacy, client rights, family support. Managing complexity using clinical decision making.
