Syllabus: An investigation of Textiles within different cultural contexts, viewed through historical and contemporary perspectives. This unit has a strong emphasis on the creative process and an experimental approach to traditional textile techniques. Students undertake individual and collaborative parallel investigations into how traditional textiles and textile processes contribute to contemporary forms of practice. Outcomes may include such forms as: installation, work for the body, textile portfolio, object based work, architectural interventions, work for interior architecture, furnishing, or performance based work.
