Syllabus: This unit commences with an exploration of the shaping of the Australian welfare state through engagement with welfare discourses and philosophical debates. Students explore contemporary rationalities, technologies and strategies of government regulatinghuman service practice. Social policy concepts of equality, equity, justice and diversity are covered through the use of case study material. The unit draws upon modernist and post-modernist accounts of policy understandings
