Syllabus:	Steel: portal frames, structural bracing systems, fatigue in steel members. Prestressed concrete: introduction, materials, loss of prestress, analysis of sections, design for flexure, shear, anchorage, transmission length, end zones, typical beam sections, practical details, partial prestressing, continuous beams. Design project: a team-based project for the design of a civil engineering project.
