Syllabus: Basic principles of genetics. Inheritance patterns. The theories of population genetic structure and gene flow dynamics in fish; models of genetic population. The theory of quantitative genetics and how it may be applied to aquaculture stock improvement.The application of population and quantitative genetics to current issues in the conservation and sustainable management of aquatic genetic resources.
