311945 v.2 Art and Design Studies Major


Introduction

Through the study of the history and theories of Art and Design, students receive practical training in critical understandings of how visual culture structures and informs our world. Students are also trained in practices of seeing and representation through technical and intuitive skills based in drawing.

Students wishing to undertake this major must first choose a primary major in the Bachelor of Arts (http://handbook.curtin.edu.au/courses/31/311921.html). Majors which may be taken with the Art and Design major are listed there.

Course Entry Requirement

Students should complete Drawing 191 and Historical Issues in Art and Design 192 in first year. Students must attend an Information Session.
