Introduction

This course is designed for those working in management in media industries or preparing to move into management positions in their industry. It develops a high level of professional expertise and competency relevant to media management with a focus on key issues and developments in media industries. In the final stage of the course, students design, implement and evaluate an individual project relevant to their professional practice.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree and minimum of three years relevant work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Part-time study is not available to international onshore students on student visas.

Intermediate Awards 1

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:

Intermediate Awards II

Graduate Certificate in Media Management; Graduate Diploma in Media Management.

Course Organisation

This course comprises of five professionally oriented media units, three management focused units, one optional unit, a project design unit and an applied research project. In year two, semester one, students must select a project unit from the list of options. Up to 100 credits of project units or a 50 credit project and two options can be selected. Part-time students study both 50 credit project units (MSC 693 and MSC 694) in place of MSC 691.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
