Introduction

This major must be combined with the Accounting Extended Stream or a second major which contains the three units of the extended stream, or acceptable alternatives, necessary to complete the accredited syllabus. Together they are designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of, and competencies in, accounting and associated fields of auditing, taxation, business law and financial management in order to meet the educational requirements of the CPA Australia and ICAA and to equip them for a professional accounting career in commerce, industry, government or public practice. It is recognised as being acceptable for Associate membership of CPA Australia, and the National Institute of Accountants and entry to the ICAA graduate program.

Combinations available with this Major

The combinations being supprted are: Bachelor of Commerce Elective Stream; Accounting & Accounting Technologies; Accounting & Banking; Accounting & Business Law; Accounting & Finance; Accounting & Taxation.

Major combinations for recognition

Students who wish to be eligible for accreditation as detailed above must combine the Accounting major with one of the following majors: Accounting Technologies; Banking; Business Law; Finance; Taxation, or the Accounting Extended Stream. The final stream allows students a choice from a range of elective units. All these combinations ensure that students complete the eleven units required for recognition.
