Introduction

This is a specialised research program designed to develop expertise in a functional area of marketing through detailed research and analysis.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce (Marketing) with a course weighted average of 70 per cent, or an honours degree in marketing, first or upper second-class.

Duration and Availability

The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time study. The course is also available in a part-time mode.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the course should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, School of Marketing. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.

Special Note

It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive the Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce (Marketing) but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission. Curtin Business School provides facilities and benefits for those studying this course by research, including access to suitable computer facilities, office space, financial assistance to attend appropriate intra or interstate conferences, and towards associated research costs.
