Prerequisite(s): 10628 (v.3) Nutritional Physiology 282 or any previous version
Syllabus: Developing a principles-based approach to pathophysiology through discussing the process of pathology from a cellular level, systemic to organ failure, systematic malfunction and the appearance of clinical signs and symptoms. Topics include the nature and classification of disease, the genetic basis of disease, cellular injury, inflammation, infection, neoplasia and fluid and electrolyte balance. Systematic pathophysiology concentrates on the gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiovascular and renal systems.There is considerable emphasis on a case study approach.
