Syllabus: A detailed overview of key concepts and practices from a systemic approach including the notions of boundaries, systems, alliances and coalitions. Extended use of the genogram to identify family-of-origin influences and transgenerational patterns will be covered along with the formulation of assessments and therapeutic hypotheses. Attention will be given to the construction of a variety of types of questions including circular and reflexive questions as interventions to elicit positive change. Common and complex couple, child and adolescent problems will be discussed.
