Syllabus:	Indicator organisms and their application. Microbial hazards associated with water. Methods of making waters safe for use. Standards applicable for waters used for different purposes. The environmental factors that effect the microbial controls applicable to foods. Characteristics of different organisms. A review of parasites of environmental health significance and the pathways of transmission. Sampling procedures and interpretation of results. Viruses of public health significance. Prion diseases.
