Syllabus: Medical surgical nursing care. Airway management, care of the unconscious patient. Medical/surgical asepsis. Fluid, wound, pressure care, pain, and continence management. Documentation and evaluation of care. Health mathematics. Administration of medications. Intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous (SC) and intravenous (IV). Introduction to perioperative nursing. Clinical skills relating to major alterations in health status - intracostal catheter (ICC), electrocardiogram (ECG), neurological conditions.
